01 About Us and Roles

This privacy notice is issued on behalf of PandahMedia Group, a private limited liability company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa in 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the "Company", "we", "us", or "our").

PandahMedia Group is the Responsible Party (data controller) determining the purposes and means of processing personal data submitted and collected online.

A,B,C,D, 1800-079 Lisbon, Portugal. Adstrategy acts strictly as an Operator (subcontractor) on behalf of PandahMedia Group.

Personal data is processed and stored within the European Union (EU) in full compliance with EU law and the principles in this document.

02 Legal Framework and Compliance

This platform operates in accordance with the following legislation -

  • General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) — governing the processing of personal data of EU citizens;
  • Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) — South Africa's primary data-protection legislation administered by the Information Regulator;
  • Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (FAIS Act) — regulating the rendering of financial advisory and intermediary services in South Africa.

03 FAIS Act Compliance — Act 37 of 2002

The Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 is administered by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and sets the conduct standards for all financial service providers (FSPs) operating in South Africa. RemoteInsurance (Pty) Ltd complies as follows -

  • Licensed FSPs only - All insurers and brokers accessible through this platform are independently licensed FSPs registered with the FSCA. We do not connect you with any unlicensed party.
  • No unsolicited advice - RemoteInsurance provides an automated comparison tool for informational purposes only. We do not render personalised financial advice as defined in the FAIS Act. Premium estimates are illustrative guides, not binding financial recommendations.
  • Honest and fair dealing - Comparison results are generated objectively by a machine-learning model, consistent with the honesty, fairness, and transparency principles of the FAIS Act's General Code of Conduct.
  • Material disclosures - Where RemoteInsurance receives referral fees or compensation from any insurer for a successful referral, this will be disclosed before the referral is made. Such arrangements do not influence our comparison results.
  • Fit and proper standards - All personnel involved in client-facing financial intermediary activities meet the fit-and-proper requirements prescribed by the FSCA.
  • Conflict of interest management - We maintain and apply a Conflict of Interest Management Policy in accordance with the FAIS General Code of Conduct.
  • Record keeping - We retain records of all intermediary services rendered in accordance with the FAIS Act's requirements.
FAIS Ombud — Dispute Resolution

If you are dissatisfied with any financial advisory or intermediary service rendered through this platform, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) -

Complaints must generally be lodged within 6 months of receiving a final response from us.

04 Principles

Our data protection policy ensures that personal data is -

  • Subject to lawful, fair and transparent treatment;
  • Collected for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a way incompatible with those purposes;
  • Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the stated purposes;
  • Accurate and updated whenever necessary — inaccurate data is erased or rectified without delay;
  • Retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it is processed;
  • Treated in a way that guarantees safety, including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction or damage.
05 Collection of Personal Data

To improve your browsing experience and deliver the services you request, we collect certain information with your authorisation -

  • Location (province and city)
  • Vehicle profile (make, model, variant, year)
  • Driving experience and driver profile

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to analyse trends, track user navigation, and collect aggregated demographic information. Cookie data may include IP address, browser type, ISP, reference/exit pages, operating system, and date/time stamps.

06 Use of IP Address and Location

Your IP address and approximate geographic location are used solely to optimise the browsing experience — for example, to pre-select country codes in the contact form. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in facilitating form completion and improving usability. No location data is stored or used for any other purpose.

07 Shelf Life & Data Retention

Quote and contact data is retained for a maximum of 6 months from collection. All personal data is permanently deleted within 24 months. You may request earlier deletion at any time by contacting info@remoteinsurance.co.za.

08 Age Limit

By using this platform you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older, the legal age of majority in South Africa. We do not knowingly collect data from persons under 18.

09 Use of Personal Data

We will use your contact details solely to deliver the insurance quotation service you requested and, where you have given consent, to keep you informed about relevant products and services. Your data will not be sold or transferred to third parties beyond our subcontractors described in section 1, except where required by law.
